What are the precautions for inspection before heat treatment of die forgings?

The inspection before solution heat treatment is a pre-inspection process for the finished product specified in the surface quality and external dimensions of the forging after the forming process of the forging meets the technical conditions, the die forging drawing, and the process card. Specific inspection should pay attention to the following aspects:

① The appearance should be free of cracks and defects such as rust spots, oxide skin, and bumps on the heat treatment site.

②The diagram of die forgings should indicate the main dimensions, special shape parts, parts with different sections, and the shape and position of the holes.

③ The size and accuracy of the die forgings to be heat treated should indicate machining allowance, surface roughness, dimensional accuracy, position accuracy, and shape accuracy.

④ The inspectors shall randomly check the underpressure amount according to 10%-20% of the batch number of die forgings. When the batch of randomly checked forgings conforms to the drawings, the inspection process can be entered. Forgings that have passed the inspection before quenching should be stored separately.

⑤ Before quenching, check the finished product rack, put 1-2 pieces of forgings for sampling (folded and cracked wastes cannot be used for sampling), and mark “sampling” on the die forgings. show the difference.

⑥After the inspection, the number of finished products, the number of repairable scraps, the final number of scraps and the defect code should be accurately filled in the accompanying card and signed by the inspector.
